Working with a Recruitment Process Outsourcing Provider

Pinning down the right people is critical to the success of any organisation. The Investment Manager, M&G, which employs 1,400 people throughout Europe, sought help from Origin HR because of its high volume of recruitment.

“Origin HR encouraged us to be more targeted with our recruiting,” says Anne Philpott, human resources director at M&G. "We had been working with the universities on graduate recruitment but now we have pinpointed the specific courses we want to target, not just the universities.”

Working with a recruitment outsourcer has meant a better alignment between applicants and vacancies. This has been achieved partly through an online job board, accessed through M&G’s main website, which is M&G-branded but built and maintained by Origin HR. Potential candidates can check what jobs are available and apply online.

“Previously we weren’t using our website to its best advantage and would have got a less relevant group of candidates, “ says Philpott. “We built the microsite four months ago, over which time we have filled 20% of our vacancies from this route. It has decreased our reliance on agencies – we’re buying knowledge but also getting technical support.”

Agencies can also put forward candidates through the online job board. But more useful is the building of a database of 3,000 potential employees. “The creation of that database has been one of our biggest gains,” says Philpott. “We can dip into an increasing pool of direct candidates.”

Origin HR has two people working onsite at M&G to ensure understanding of the company’s corporate culture and prevent a noticeable division between the human resources department and the outsourcer.
